Local Governments and Schools
Here is my own list of local Communities and Schools. Each has links to the city hall, major school districts, and other information.
The North Texas Council of Governments has a lot of information about the area.
Annual statistics for all of the schools in Texas can be found at the Texas Education Agency. You can search for test results and evaluations at the county, district, and individual school level.
The Alliance Airport and business area is becoming an important part of our community.
My Favorite Fort Worth Attractions
I love the Fort Worth Cultural District .
The Kimbell Art Museum and the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth are two of the crown jewels of the Metroplex. They are across the street from each other. Nearby you'll find the Amon Carter Museum. Recently expanded, it houses a wonderful collection of American art.
The weather in the Southern Plains is usually either hot or violent. Here are some places you can find out which way it is today:
- National Weather Service - Forecast for Southlake, Texas
- Texas DOT road conditions.
- Weather.com for DFW Airport
The Dallas-Fort Worth Mall site features a comprehensive local directory.
As you would expect, Dallas.com has lots of pointers to local attractions. I especially like the restaurant reviews.
I'm an avid supporter of the Humane Society of North Texas . I own (or am owned by!) two German Shepard Dogs, Chula and Pita. I greatly miss my departed friends Tippy the dog, and two cats, Exxon and James. All were rescued. (Exxon was found at a gas station, thus the name.) Here are some pictures of them.
My husband and I love to cook. Two of our favorite food places are the Central Market and Eatzi's . They are the places to go for incredible ingredients, great pre-cooked meals, wide selections of bread, cheeses, wine and more.
Homeowners insurance is a major issue in Texas. The HelpInsure site was created by the Texas Department of Insurance and has a lot of information about this critical issue.
Mold is a concern for home buyers and sellers, real estate brokers, inspectors, appraisers, and mortgage lenders. The Texas Department of State Health Services has a comprehensive Mold Program Page.
